Short Film
"Old Grace" US 2008, 10 mins. - Thursday, Oct 30, 6:30pm
starring Joe Talbot, Paul Napier; Dir: Nathan Chitayat

When Jack Leland's son, Jeff, began to get consumed by the world of Civil War reenactments, Jack chose to tolerate it. True, Jeff had a son - Little Jack - and should have been engaged in more mature pursuits... like parenting, but as long as it wasn't hurting anyone, what was the harm? That is until it hurt someone. When Jeff accidentally dies during one of those very reenactments, Jack cannot contain his shame and anger.
And so, Jack decides to deal with the loss in the only way his pride will allow; by going on a roadtrip to get rid of 'Ol' Grace', the valuable antique rifle that was directly responsible for Jeff's death, and which Jeff treasured so dearly. This would seem a simple mission if it weren't for Little Jack, who has never made a distinction between his father's reenactments and real battles.
To him Jeff has always been nothing short of a war hero, fighting for glory. Now, with his father gone, that very rifle is one of the few keepsakes that Little Jack has left. With Jack now Little Jack's guardian, he must take the six-year-old boy along with him and try to correct Little Jack's distorted impressions of his father and at the same time, keep him out of trouble. But when they've reached their destination, will Jack be able to go through with the sale, or will Little Jack be able to remind him of how much his son meant to him?
